The 2022 Courses
Half Marathon/2-Person Relay
This scenic “lollipop” 13.1-mile course from Downtown Independence provides a unique tour of the heart of the Willamette Valley. Starting on Main Street in Independence, runners will travel past welcoming residents and local businesses, before embarking on miles of gorgeous country roads. After crossing the finish line, enjoy a short stroll down Main Street to the Wine and Music Festival at beautiful Riverview Park featuring local winemakers!
2-person relay teams will run on the same course, with the exchange point located at mile 6.1. Relay members will be shuttled back to the start (first-leg runner) and to the relay exchange point (second-leg runner).
Just like in years past, the course is mainly paved roads with stunning views, with a small gravel section. Runner lanes are closed to vehicle traffic. The course will have a medical presence, six water stations, and a limited number of toilets on the route (because we love you).
5k Run/Walk presented by toyota
Our festive and scenic 5K Run/Walk presented by Toyota will start at the heart of downtown Independence, using the same start and finish as the half marathon. Offering a fast course with just the right amount of country charm, the out-and-back route heads south on Main Street and then onto Corvallis Road, running shortly onto Buena Vista Road until they hit the turnaround point. Runners and walkers will get a burst of energy from the crisp morning air with scenic views, and might even get to high-five a few of the fastest half marathon finishers running by. Runners and walkers will be cheered on throughout downtown Independence as they cross the finish line, where the wine, music, and fun await you!

Participants falling below this pace will be offered a ride back to the finish line by the SAG vehicle. Walkers are welcome on the 5K Course.

COURSE ETIQUETTE
To show respect and appreciation for the community hosting us, we ask that runners practice these course etiquette guidelines.
If using other fuels, please discard wrappers in trash receptacles at aid stations, or put them in your pocket and not alongside the road.
Local community groups host these stations. Please show your appreciation to volunteers as you pass each aid station and obey the law officers and course monitors who are working hard to keep you safe and happy.
Be sure that you’re aware of your surroundings — ensure headphones are not impairing hearing.
